Battles are fought for control over the territory of the Atlantic. Here you can choose the time period - 1939, when submarines are just beginning to attack Allied convoys, and 1943, where the navy suffers defeat and tries to restore its influence. The game supports multiplayer.The commander must quickly solve various tasks, for example, set a course, actively move at night, and more slowly during the day in order to be as undetected by the enemy as possible. Having discovered the location of the enemy, you must choose an adequate way to destroy it, having thought out a plan of retreat in case of detection of your own water transport. In the process, you can set tasks for crew members who will take on some of the responsibilities. Here are sailors, petty officers, officers, through whom the gamer gives orders to the rest. At first, Silent Hunter 3 offers training, which is accompanied by texts and videos. Then a practical exam is given, in which the player acquires the skills of controlling a submarine using weapons - a cannon and an anti-aircraft machine gun.During battles, it is important to correctly calculate the type of enemy ship and its speed of movement in order to inflict maximum damage. While underwater, you need to correctly calculate the oxygen level. The crew quickly reports to the commander about the results of his attack. In the submarine simulator, there is a variety of missions. Here, patrolling is offered, when you have to wait for a target for some time. Among the tasks there are also the destruction of enemy convoys, battles with the specified submarines, protection of allies, interception, attack with torpedoes, performing which the submarine will have to surface and sneak up. The combat equipment in the submarine simulator is also represented by destroyers, anti-submarine aircraft, cargo ships, tankers.
