SimpleMovie combines elements of sandbox, crafting and simulator. The player's goal is to make his own short film using the opportunities provided by the gameplay. The user acts as a director, screenwriter and producer of his film. The game itself creates a video with fixed background music and subtitles.

The gamer will have to write a story, choose actors, control productions and creative aspects of filmmaking. Before the start of the next mission, you have to choose several actors from the presented ten. There is an NPC-mation system that allows you to create animated films, where the built-in program controls the characters in non-continuous increments between frames. Thus, an independent movement is obtained, and a series of images is reproduced as a sequence.

The user personally chooses the actors, their animations, the starting and ending points of the camera movement. Camera hop duration and subtitles are also user selectable. The project features 5 separate scenes (locations) where you can take original pictures. The territories include several buildings filled with secondary objects. There is an extensive arsenal of weapons, thanks to which you can make action shots with criminals and the police.
