Stygian: Outer Gods is a survival horror with role-playing components, where the gamer will have to survive in the proposed conditions and investigate a mystery aged 1000 years. Characters risk their sanity when confronting entities known as the Outer Gods, and every action and resource, including ammunition, matters. The events take place in the universe before Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones, allowing you to influence the circumstances leading up to the Black Day.The narrative begins with the protagonist and his companion traveling to Kingsport to search for his missing father and explore the settlement's past; a shipwreck they experience turns out to be just a prelude to a nightmare where the companion's skills and occult knowledge are tools against the coming of cosmic beings or a descent into madness. Exploration in Stygian: Outer Gods focuses on Kingsport, a Lovecraftian-inspired location that includes a village, a mansion, mines, graveyards, and the woods near the lighthouse.The heroes traverse these areas, solving puzzles, finding items to uncover secrets, and opening passages to new areas. Survival involves constant confrontation with opponents and environmental dangers, often leading to more than just physical damage. The character's mental state deteriorates from collisions, causing disorders that affect gameplay; this requires collecting materials and recipes to create equipment, medicines and means to combat threats and maintain mental balance.
