Submarine Commander is a tactical simulator in which you will take on the role of a submarine captain, performing complex missions. Particular attention is paid to strategic planning and resource management when users maneuver their vessel in waters teeming with enemies. The action takes place in the Mediterranean. It is based on tracking and defeating enemy convoys, as well as managing various systems and resources of the submarine.Gameplay begins with players viewing a control console that features a map of the Mediterranean Sea showing the submarine's position and the locations of enemy ships. Gamers use the number keys to control the submarine's speed, with faster movement possible on the surface, where the submarine can also recharge its batteries and air supply. Direction control is provided by the joystick, although maneuvering the submarine is a slow process that requires careful planning and patience. The main display can be switched between three modes: map, sonar, and periscope. A typical mission sequence involves displaying the map to search for enemy convoys, then switching to sonar for a closer approach once a convoy has been detected. The final stage of the attack includes raising the periscope to visually identify and destroy enemy ships with torpedoes. A successful hit requires precise timing and positioning, as the periscope is only effective if the submarine is within a certain depth and range of the target.
