The story and world for the game Tainted Grail was created by the Polish writer Krzyztof Piskorski. The main action is based on the classic myths about King Arthur and is presented in their alternative, fantasy, darker version. The plot looks pretty standard, it all begins with the fact that another infection, the so-called Sinisterness, is spreading across the lands of Avalon. Something evil and menacing is coming from underground, spreading as an eerie fog and miasma around, turning the animals inhabiting the forests into more evil and larger creatures.King Arthur himself has long since disappeared, and the Knights of the Round Table either died or turned into ugly, bandaged lepers. The only defense is the Menhirs-guardians, which look like huge statues. But in order for them to protect the surrounding lands from poisonous miasmas, people must make sacrifices to them. In order to find a saving solution, the inhabitants of the settlement where the game begins sent their best warriors on an expedition, but there has been no news about them for a long time. Therefore, ordinary people, the main characters of the game Tainted Grail, enter the case: a tattooed brutal man with an axe and a fragile herbalist girl. Depending on the choice of the main character, the game will begin differently. During the gameplay, the heroes will meet to travel together and save the world. The game is non-linear, giving the gamer the opportunity to choose the behavior of the main character in a given situation, which will entail changes in the future narrative. For the first time, the player chooses a victim to bring to the Menhir-keeper. This can be a person or the corpse of a dead dog. In this case, the person must first be rescued from prison. In any case, the gamer will have to dig in ancient crypts, look for family heirlooms of local rulers and then sacrifice them to the Menhir. After this, a series of tragic events follows, as a result of which the player understands that solving local problems will not be limited.
