The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction puts you in control of the mighty Hulk, the menacing alter ego of scientist Bruce Banner. Under the influence of the proposals of Banner's psychotherapist, Leonard Samson, the hero embarks on a mission to collect resources for a machine that promises to cure a transforming disease. The campaign unfolds through a series of story missions interspersed with Hulk being able to freely explore a vast open world. Additional diversions include taking part in side missions, ranging from unconventional activities such as playing a round of golf to driving an ambulance to a hospital. A radar system aids in navigation by directing you to mission objectives, represented by various icons, each representing a separate task or destination. The protagonist displays abilities such as jumping huge distances, climbing walls, and performing basic attacks and brawls against enemies. Notably, Hulk can use ordinary objects as formidable weapons, from using lampposts as clubs to throwing cars and tanks to destroy groups of enemies. Health and destructive potential are represented by two bars on the screen, with the lower bar increasing as the character deals damage or wreaks havoc. Reaching critical mass unlocks the most powerful moves, but using them depletes the bar, requiring strategic decisions. As health deteriorates, the adrenaline rush state allows powerful moves without depleting critical mass, offering a last ditch attempt at survival. Features open-world exploration with a variety of side missions, as well as radar navigation to track mission targets. The game features a dynamic combat system that includes jumping, running, and climbing.
