Through the Woods

Through the Woods allows you to plunge into the gloomy forests of the western coast of Norway with its secrets and mysteries. In addition to the horror tied to Scandinavian mythology, the game reveals a real family drama, raising the eternal theme of the conflict between parents and children. The plot revolves around a woman with her son. They come to their small house, located in a dense and beautiful forest. The first minutes, the player is allowed to examine the area around the house, playing as a teenage son - Espin. One day, the mother wakes up in the house and sees that the boy is nowhere to be found. He was taken by an unknown man in a boat, and sails away with him in an unknown direction. When the mother gets to the boat, it turns out to be empty, and at this point the main action of the game begins. The player will have to go through forests, mountains, ancient ruined settlements and caves, constantly encountering a supernatural and frightening world full of terrifying monsters. Exploring the terrain of old villages or buildings involves finding various kinds of objects, notes, journals, skeletons of dead people. From notes and diaries, the player learns about what is happening, reveals the history and plot. Along the way, the character tells about his life, about fairy tales that are now becoming reality. The atmosphere of the game is conveyed not only by visual effects, but also by music performed in an ancient manner. There is no usual life bar in the game, as soon as one of the monsters notices the character, the camera bounces back, and the player hears the screams of a dying woman. The only thing you can use to resist enemies is a flashlight and a torch, which scare them away and, of course, stealth in the passage.
