In gameplay Total Annihilation: Kingdoms + Iron Plague Huge armies clash in battle and forests and cities burn. Magical abilities of mighty heroes will be able to flatten castles. The player enters a fictional continent, where he learns of four immortal monarch brothers involved in a massive conflict for power over Darien. This project includes the original version of the game and the Iron Plague add-on.

The user gets a bird's eye view of what's going on. Before the session you will need to choose 1 of 4 factions as a divine being Aramon, Verun, Taros or Jon. The add-on introduces a fifth character, Creonte. Monarchs are applicable for building and forming armies. They also have magical skills that can change the course of battles. In the single-player process, the gamer must complete a list of objectives in order to complete the match with a victory. In multiplayer encounters you will need to completely destroy enemy forces to win.

In the walkthrough, a single resource is used - mana, which can be increased and generated through the miners Lodestones. This structure is only set on certain locations. Destroyed buildings and fallen warriors are recycled for materials. Trees and stones scattered around the map can be mined to instantly gain a limited amount of mana. Research and improvements will unlock new soldiers, and each has their own strengths and weaknesses.
