Treasures of the Aegean delves into the epic adventures of two explorers on a treasure hunt for ancient lost relics. The protagonists are a girl named Maria Taylor and a guy named James Andrew, who join forces in a joint quest to find the mysterious kingdom. Players will engage in solving the mystery of a Minoan civilization that has disappeared beneath the surface of the earth. Heroes will be opposed by squads of enemy figures wishing to succeed in their quest for a mystical place and use the knowledge discovered within for their own selfish ends.

The narrative in Treasures of the Aegean is done through drawn scenes telling the events before and after each level. The single-player story campaign is broken up into alternating challenges, set in two-dimensional space. The game is a platformer, where you need to move through the available territories of the characters, exploring the surroundings and finding clues that help you learn more about the enemies or the secrets of the ancient people. The story is presented non-linearly, where the gamer can decide where to go and in what order to explore the locations of the world. The events will depend on the decisions made and the artifacts found.
