The player can recruit fighters himself, control them and make the right decisions in battles. The main mission is to find yourself trapped in hostile territory, not only to survive, but also to lead a small group of inexperienced soldiers to safety. Unconventional Warfare offers 3 main mechanics:

• Combat – allows the gamer to give orders to his soldiers and test his tactical skills. Its main task is to correctly determine the enemy's positions and flanks. Careless strategies, such as placing your units behind one cover, will lead to wasted ammunition or even the death of soldiers. In addition to flanking battles, the player's arsenal will include such a combat action as destroying enemy fortifications with explosives. To break through enemy positions, you can use tanks, which will become the most effective tool in battle. If the gamer's tank is destroyed, he can still fight the enemy's armor with explosives and armor-piercing bullets. In addition, you can capture abandoned or disabled enemy tanks, repair them and use them for yourself.
• Camp - after a long march or a tough battle, the player can set it up to provide rest for his squad. In addition to such typical actions as sleeping and satisfying hunger, you can perform more complex ones, such as servicing weapons, repairing vehicles, shooting at targets and even blood transfusions.
• The plot is based on the story of the fictional country of Andarushia, where a civil war is going on. The gamer gets to the territory of this country, crashing into its fiery plains on a military plane. In order to stay alive and lead his squad of fighters out of the encirclement, the player must apply all his knowledge and skills in the military field.
