Under The Hood

Under The Hood is an arcade project with elements of breaking blocks, combining classic mechanics with many unique features of the gameplay. Gamers control a device resembling a vehicle paddle, used to maneuver and destroy blocks on various levels. A variety of tasks are available in the gameplay, including spring-loaded blocks, conveyor belts and dangerous areas that require constant adjustment of strategy. This approach to block breaking involves a variety of level designs where obstacles introduce dynamic elements, forcing users to switch their focus, adapt their methods and try new approaches. The bulk of the project involves completing over 30 unique levels, each designed with its own set of environmental variables and hazards. Users encounter mechanisms that alter the movement or behavior of the ball, adding complexity and requiring flexible thinking. Completing the campaign involves completing objectives in each level, which may involve clearing specific block patterns or avoiding penalty areas. Various level layouts introduce new challenges, keeping the process exciting and encouraging gamers to develop new strategies. As part of the project, you can explore additional actions and tasks that improve the gameplay. The inclusion of moving elements and level-specific mechanics lead to challenges such as timing shots to avoid hazards or strategically using power-ups to effectively clear blocks. In addition, some levels include new racket abilities or ball effects, allowing users to experiment with combos that optimize progress.
