VIY is not a tribute to the classic or an atmospheric horror based on a book. From the point of view of the original concept, there is wildness and heresy going on here. VIY begins with the arrival of the main character in a large village, within which he can move freely. The beginning of the game really resembles the famous mystical story, but this is where the similarities end - the meat and the aforementioned wildness begin.The unnamed seminary student here drinks energy drinks to quickly move between locations, shoots a crossbow instead of praying fervently, and, judging by the visions that attack him every time after performing a routine church procedure, uses illegal substances. Within the shooter genre, such a frivolous interpretation of Viy looks, however, not bad. The protagonist's task is to save the soul of the deceased young lady from evil spirits by reading a service for her and performing three cleansing rituals.In order not to accidentally move the horses during the execution of the deceased's last will, the protagonist must take care of his safety in advance. A chalk circle and a holy cross are not enough here, although these attributes are also part of the combat arsenal. To save your own skin from the demonic entities besieging a huge church, you will have to look for the notes of priest Matvey with instructions on the key to the weapons warehouse.You can play both in single-player mode and in multiplayer with other participants. Moreover, hunting for monsters implies opposition from two sides. Hunters carry out the task, while simultaneously defending themselves from ghouls, and the damned entities attack aliens, taking away immortal souls, and turning people into their own kind.
