Wasteland: The Original Classic is set on Earth in the year 2087. According to the plot, in 1999, the United States of America and the Soviet Union entered into war. Nuclear bombs destroyed almost the entire planet, turning it into a lifeless wasteland. Among the survivors are some American soldiers. After the war, they captured the prison and turned it into a fortress. The gang called themselves the Desert Rangers. For decades, they monitored law and order in the region among the remaining survivors. The main character is the commander of 1 of the squads. He will travel around the Southwest of the United States and investigate crimes. The protagonist's team consists of 4 people. New fighters will join them as the game progresses. In the Wasteland, a post-apocalyptic civilization is under threat of final destruction. An army of robots has remained undestroyed at a secret military base. They were created to fight against the USSR, but are now out of control and killing everyone in a row. All locations and characters are made in pixel style. Each fighter has his own weapon. There is an Uzi, knives and machine guns. There is a black panel at the bottom of the screen. It will display all the characters' lines, the choice of actions, hints, descriptions of locations and situations. The further plot depends on the user's choice. The protagonist looks like a bald man in a green suit. He can be controlled according to the following principle: by clicking on the right side of the screen, the fighter will take 1 step to the right, etc..
