Windward will take the player to the world of sea travel, exploration of new unknown spaces and battles with bloodthirsty pirates. This is a sandbox with an open world that is randomly generated. By transporting cargo, fighting bandits and completing tasks, the player gains experience and receives money with resources. The received goods can be spent on upgrading the controlled brig and your own port.In the Windward project, you first need to choose one of four factions:

• Exchange - they love money, for them the most important thing is profit. The organization's sailboats are adapted for transporting cargo - they have the most capacious holds. The guys are not averse to solving problems with the help of peace treaties. They can purchase galleons at a discount price.
• Valiant - masters of battle. The ships of this corporation show themselves best during combat due to their considerable armor and good weapons. For defeating the enemy, they earn bonus experience.
• Consulate - a nation of diplomats and negotiators. Able to purchase military brigs at a bargain price. Each completed mission brings them additional skill points.
• Sojourn – explorers who seek to gain new knowledge and discover unknown lands. They have the fastest ships and the most accurate gunners. They are given additional experience for discovering cities. Corvette and schooner class ships are sold to them at a discount.
