World War Zero is a lightweight version of the hardcore shooter Iron Storm. There is no crazy amount of script traps here that make players languish in frustration, passing the same place a thousand times again, in the hope of finding the only correct tactics prescribed by the developer. The gameplay is monotonous, the stages are linear, and the puzzles are presented by searching for loopholes, buttons and switches that open passages between corridors that resemble each other like two peas in a pod. Even on the highest difficulty level, the game takes six hours to complete: this is due to many factors, one of which is the low artificial intelligence of the enemies. The character of World War Zero is a cool American lieutenant, shooting at the plot cranberry in the form of Russian Mongols who seized power led by the insidious Ugenberg, a villain who has kept the world in fear since 1914, when the great war began. In 1964, the military actions that have not ceased since then turned fifty years old. The Baron plans to expand his empire from the Atlantic shores to Vladivostok, and the task of the protagonist James Anderson is to prevent this venture from being realized. There is still something original in the project: firstly, the atmosphere and an interesting setting. Cities are disfigured, buildings and churches are destroyed by shelling, helicopter blades are rattling in the sky, and the player is hiding behind the rubble of walls, taking cover in trenches and throwing cluster grenades. Despite the strong cranberry flavor and simplicity of the visual design, the gameplay is quite exciting.
