X-Piratez is a large-scale fan project made on Openxcom, the engine of the famous video game X-COM, and allows you to immerse yourself in exciting adventures in a devastated and fallen world that has survived its global catastrophe. The game takes place 600 years after the events of the original. Team X, the defenders of humanity, have lost their secret war, and the governments of Earth have collapsed one by one under the blows of the Ethereals, an alien empire. Now the planet has become their remote province.The elite strata of society are concentrated in large cities under the control of collaborationist organizations: scientists, clergymen and financial magnates. Beyond their power are vast territories polluted by unearthly substances, the biosphere there is subject to mutation and distortion. There is no law and order, and only brute force rules. Several women, mutated in the direction of enhancing their natural abilities, united to survive in this grim reality.The gameplay in X-Piratez is supplemented in comparison with the original, adding some new features, but generally corresponding to the combination of base building and turn-based tactical strategy. The main difference lies in slightly different priorities: the game throws the player into a brutal reality without preparation, and only over time will the storyline about the confrontation with collaborators and their patrons begin to unfold.
