Yu-Gi-Oh! The Duelists of the Roses involves a strategic card game that unfolds on a 7x7 table. Each participant controls the Deck Leader, the embodiment of their life points and the channel through which the cards are deployed. Placing one item next to the Deck Leader each turn is the main mechanic. Cards on the field, including the leader, can move one space horizontally or vertically per turn. The campaign intensifies as monster cards collide, causing battles, and they reflect the essence with trading, accordingly taking away life points. The duel reaches its climax when the user's HP reaches zero or when the leader of his deck is surrounded by enemy monsters in the summoning zones, or after 100 turns, when the gamer with the most health points wins.Monsters' skill grows during duels and is developed through promotion. Survival on the battlefield, defeating enemies, or damaging an opponent's hit points feeds their hidden experience. Accumulating enough experience allows them to rise to the next rank, which is a prerequisite for a monster to serve as a deck leader. Different deck leaders have distinctive abilities based on their type and rank.
