Zeno Clash Is a first-person shooter with a combat system borrowed from the fighting game genre. The planet where the plot twists and turns take place will be Zenozoic, and more specifically in the huge city of Halstead.
The events shown in the game start immediately after a powerful explosion that killed Papo-Mama - a creature with an hermaphrodite origin, which was the parent of all living things in the city. Everyone is up in arms against the main character - Geta, and is accused of this incident. Whether it really was he is not clear, because the protagonist comes to his senses after the explosion. He has to flee from the angry crowd, and his faithful friend Daedra helps him in this..
The levels do not shine with openness, they are linear and do not allow you to complete tasks in an arbitrary order. When entering a location with opponents, a splash screen is shown with the number of enemies, their type of attacks, and so on. This menu is stylistically reminiscent of the same pre-battle inserts from fighting games. Combat is based on combos, most of the time you need to fight off crowds with your fists.
There are 7 types of weapons:
- Crossbow - arrows shoot out in an oblique arc, but with very strong damage
- Bone stick - knocks back when hitting the enemy, but very fragile, because of this it must be used wisely.
- Musket - has a magazine for 3 bullets. Long reload times are compensated for by high precision.
- Fish Pistol - 4 rounds per clip, low damage, capable of stopping an opponent and forcing them to stand motionless for a while.
- Grenade Launcher - has enough power to kill with one explosion.
- Hammer - also low toughness and low swing speed, but devastating damage.
- Skull Bomb - similar to a conventional grenade, knocks down opponents in a large radius.
