In 10 Miles To Safety, after an unsuccessful experiment, the virus spread and infected a large number of citizens, who began to mutate into bloodthirsty monsters. Characters pose as one of countless survivors caught in the middle of a fight for survival. Alone or in a group of up to 3, the survivors will have to kill, steal, and craft their way through the miles that separate them from the evacuation zone. This is a top-down shooter for single and co-op play, set during a zombie outbreak. The way 10 Miles To Safety depicts a city devastated by an outbreak feels believable. In addition to the hero, many other undead are often seen running for their lives and sometimes fighting the infected. The efforts of the military and police are also shown in detail at one point, although not all of them will be allies. The world-building is detailed, as each situation has a mostly realistic layout that matches expectations. The game is designed to force players to find better gear, resupply, and stock up on ammo to prepare for the night. A constant timer forces people to use the clock efficiently, looting as much as possible while avoiding the undead and other threats. As the distance to the target decreases, new enemies begin to appear. The gamer needs to find a balance between looting, progress and resource management. This gameplay formula works very well and is enjoyable. The project has truly terrifying locations:
- Burning and wrecked cars abandoned by the owner.
- Destroyed stores after the end of the world.
- Corpses scattered in the middle of the roads.
- Rivers of blood on green grass.
