Aethernaut is a rather complex puzzle game in which the player will find himself in a steampunk world and amazing mechanisms. To understand the principles of their work, and what levers to push will be trial and error. Fortunately no one is chasing the protagonist here and is not going to attack, so you can safely focus on the task at hand and devote as much time as necessary to it.

A man wakes up in a place unknown to him and doesn't know how he got here. Suddenly a voice from the receiver above makes him flinch. He is greeted by Cornell's scientist, who explains that the place is called the Constructor and consists of many rooms. A protagonist has been selected by the program to conduct an experiment that he himself signed up for, though he has no memory of it at all. He will have to get through this maze to the Core and then he will be sent home. To keep him entertained, he will be accompanied everywhere by an explorer, while asking strange philosophical questions. Depending on the answers, the behavior of the narrator can change, as well as some missions.

Gradually, as he progresses through the Aeternaut levels, the player will begin to hear a strange, thin voice pleading for help. Protagonist decides to keep the phenomenon a secret in order to personally investigate the cause. The complex may be hiding a lot more secrets than it seems at first glance. Also, the guy still wants to find out exactly how he got here, and whether it was a kidnapping.
