FINAL FANTASY 4: THE AFTER YEARS is a good addition to the fourth part of the legendary Final Fantasy franchise. The plot is cleverly woven with adjustments: the script is divided into several episodes, but still retains the charm of unpredictability. The heroes have not lost their charisma at all, having received a reskin, and the dialogues are written interestingly and in places with humor. The action in the chapters develops in parallel, converging at one point closer to the end of the game.Each story has a separate character, and this has both a positive and an unpleasant aspect. By dividing the game narrative into fragments, it is easier for the scriptwriters to maintain intrigue and introduce plot twists. However, from a gameplay point of view, such a solution in the context of an RPG looks unsuccessful: all achievements and loot collected from different corners of the dungeons are reset at the beginning of the next episode. You will be able to accumulate experience points and useful artifacts only towards the very end.The leveling system is quite boring, but a couple of convenient innovations have been added to the original combat - auto-battle and ligaments. The first is something like an autopilot, in which the player can give the heroes freedom of action in battle, leaving the showdown with mobs to the AI. The second is a collective kung fu technique, where magical attacks and blows are carried out by two or more protagonists at the same time, increasing the degree of damage to the enemy.
