Flynn and Freckles is a single-player third-person quest in which the player explores a pirate island in search of a cursed treasure. You play as a young pirate named Flynn, who has decided to get the legendary Sword of Captain Freckles. This quest is just the beginning of the hero's adventures: it turns out that the discovered artifact is possessed by the spirit of its previous owner. So Flynn gets for his sole use not only a glowing blade, useful against all sorts of exotic evil spirits living on the rocky island, but also a dashing companion.The graphic component of the Flynn and Freckles project looks conditionally pleasant: bright colors, neat locations, simple and slightly angular textures. The character animation looks worse, but still not so clumsy as to find fault with the overall picture. The lion's share of problems is caused by imperfect gameplay mechanics. A simple platformer with simple puzzles is too difficult to play, and it's not because of the aggressive environment, traps, or overly hardcore bosses, but because of the crooked controls.The character can run and jump, uses a double jump to overcome large distances between platforms and high ledges, and also swings a sword, cutting vegetation and enemies. There are other options like collecting coins. Money is needed for trading with NPCs. The trouble is that awkward, jerky movement on islands over gaping chasms often leads to absurd deaths.
