In Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows, players navigate a dynamic world with four different characters: a wizard, an elf, a warrior, and a Valkyrie. Each has a variety of combos and special attacks, allowing for customization of combat strategy. Unlike its predecessor, this installment lacks hidden characters and character customization. Upgrades are no longer centralized in a hub world; instead, they occur at the end of each world, adding a layer of strategic depth. The lack of a shop to purchase items makes for a simpler process. Centuries ago, the Emperor, in his quest for immortality, betrayed four immortal heroes who had once served him faithfully. The Emperor's trusted advisors manipulated him into crucifying these heroes on a colossal tree. Ironically, the Emperor, overcome with remorse, abandoned his initial act of sorrow, but succumbed to six more regrets before his advisors turned on him. The advisors, now monstrous creatures, stole the heroes' immortality. The action unfolds as the freed heroes set out on a quest to eliminate the corrupted advisors and fix the Emperor's six remaining sorrows. However, complications arise and the heroes lose their powers. It is then up to them to regain these abilities and defeat the enemy to stop his evil plans from destroying the world. Featuring a dynamic combat system with customizable combos and special attacks, as well as no hidden characters and character customization. Updates occur at the end of each world, increasing the strategic depth.
