The plot of Kirikou is based on the film of the same name, released several years earlier. Here, the main character named Kirikou, born in the African desert, is forced to support himself. Therefore, in order to grow up and remain unharmed, he will have to go through many trials, having visited a variety of places. The path will not be easy, but if everything goes well, the boy will definitely be able to improve his position. The gameplay in Kirikou is based on platformer mechanics. So, the character moves in the indicated direction, overcoming obstacles and collecting drops of water. This is a basic element, since the success of passing each location directly depends on it. Also, as you progress through the story, you can discover hidden locations where you can find secrets. In most cases, they relate to the development of new skills (for example, a double jump). So, the spirit literally explains to players how they can pull off this maneuver. As for the opponents, their place is taken by insects and robots. You can deal with them with the help of a club, which Kirikou literally never lets go of. Some mechanoids can hide behind trees, waiting for the boy to pass by, so that they can then attack. But the camera is installed in such a way that gamers see the villains, and after detection, they can immediately turn around to eliminate them. During breaks between locations, there are cutscenes that advance the plot and tell about the stages of growing up of the main character.
