Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero allows gamers to take control of Marona, a young resident of the ocean world of Ivoire. The girl can communicate with Phantoms - the spirits of the deceased - and travels with her ghostly companion Ash, helping those in need. Their journey is interrupted by an attack by ghost ships called the Shipwreck Fleet, separating Marona and Ash. After this, the heroine teams up with her new friend Apricot to search for the legendary squad that once defeated these spectral opponents. The main gameplay of Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero is built around tactical battles using original mechanics on a map without the usual grid. Units move freely around the location during turn-based battles. A key element of the battles is the Confine system, which allows Marona to summon allied spirits by binding their incorporeal essences to objects in the environment. The object chosen for binding directly determines the combat parameters of the ghostly ally, introducing an additional tactical aspect to the deployment of forces. In addition, Phantoms are able to use special Gadgets to carry out slow but devastating attacks. This tactical game offers a wide range of possibilities thanks to Marona's unique talents and deep team customization. The protagonist can use the Confriend technique, merging with a ghostly ally; such a fusion changes her appearance and opens up access to special techniques characteristic of the merged spirit. Players form their combat squad, choosing from more than 50 types of available fighters, which provides a variety of strategic decisions.
