Rome: Total War reveals the history of the rise of a great and powerful state called the Roman Empire. The game continues the series of global strategies Total War, and invites the gamer to join bloody battles. The tactical mode is worked out to the smallest detail, and the strategic component also works here. First, the player is faced with a mandatory training campaign, after which the passage begins. At the start, the family to which the protagonist belongs is selected - these are the Scipii, Caesars, Brutus. The initial territory that belongs to the character, as well as the strength of individual types of troops, depends on the choice. Additional factions are opened in the process, after the capture of Rome, consisting of 50 provinces. In the real-time strategy, there is also a quick campaign, where minimal requirements are put forward for victory. The gameplay of the game is conditionally divided into 2 parts, where in the first the user acts in the global strategy mode, and the second leads the troops. Events take place on maps of Europe and part of the African continent, made in 3D graphics. All important objects are displayed here, including roads and cities, mines and ports.Moving armies to Rome: Total War is only available if there is no enemy at the desired point. An ambush can be hidden in fields, forests, and similar places with shelters. Here it is possible to build forts and observation towers. One fortress provides defense for a couple of important objects. Having joined a faction, the user completes the tasks of the Senate, for which rewards are due, and in case of failure, the player will face a siege of his castle. The Senate can be dropped in order to try to lead the state on your own. There is also a developed diplomatic system, with the help of which the gamer is also able to achieve his goals. Battles take place on different maps - tactical and strategic, where troops pass near the sea, on heights and hills, where you can use the features of the landscape to your advantage. The battles are dynamic, with the ability to fight hand-to-hand, where the result is affected by the correctly chosen position of the troops, especially the location of the heavy cavalry and flanks. When storming enemy fortresses, siege weapons are used and tunnels are made. There is also an economic system, thanks to which the user develops cities and suburbs, collects taxes and takes care of residents.
