SGS Battle for Madrid is the second part of the studio's new series, which features intense battles in compact but important locations. This turn-based wargame operates on a large tactical scale, covering a variety of units: from regiments and battalions to companies and even platoons, depending on the specific session. Time moves quickly, and moves represent real periods lasting only a few hours, half a day or one or two days.One of the key features that sets the Battle series apart from other SGS projects is the unit activation system. Unlike many wargames, not all units can move and fight during each turn. Instead, only activated units can engage in combat or maneuver. Activation restrictions vary depending on the specific battle and even the current episode of the battle, which adds a layer of strategic complexity.The project recreates one of the most important battles of the Spanish Civil War, a conflict that could have ended much earlier if the Nationalists had achieved victory. Gamers can command Nationalist or Republican forces, competing against another human opponent using PBEM or hot seat gameplay, or challenging the AI. The focus is on the hills and plains surrounding the Spanish capital, and the immediate outskirts of Madrid are also part of the battlefield.
