The Flower Collectors is a noir detective story in an unusual setting: the action takes place in Barcelona in the late 70s, but all the characters are anthropomorphic animals with the faces of raccoons, foxes, cats, bears and dogs. Despite the seeming frivolity of the cartoon universe, the plot here is tense, and the characters are well-written. The protagonist of The Flower Collectors is a former police investigator named Jorge, who spends his days in a wheelchair opposite the window. In retirement, all he can afford is to spy on other people's lives and grumble endlessly.One day, Jorge witnesses a murder, and then Melinda, a young, energetic journalist, bursts into his measured everyday life. A joint investigation begins, during which many skeletons fall out of the neighbors' closets. And Jorge himself has something to hide - a dark past hangs over him. The Flower Collectors is, above all, an atmosphere, a plot intrigue and interaction with different personalities - from a materialist layman to a priest. Here, observation, dexterity or stealth skills are not as important as emotional immersion in the history and destinies of the characters.The interaction of the detective partners is implemented in an interesting way. Bear Jorge cannot leave his own apartment, so he is forced to watch Melinda through binoculars, using a walkie-talkie for communication at a distance. The main character controls his protégé, prompting her actions during an illegal search and dialogue lines when questioning witnesses.
