True Crime New York City is a story about a New York police officer with a dark past. The main character, Marcus Reed, was a member of one of the major gangster groups a few years ago. He was betrayed, but the guy found a defector, after which he shot the traitor with an UZI. Having put a bloody end to his criminal activity, he decided to join the police to fight anarchy and injustice by legal means. In True Crime New York City, the player will have access to central Manhattan. Having become a detective, Marcus must stop the activities of 4 mafia syndicates. In essence, showdowns with each of the gangs are one of the chapters of the plot. After completing them, depending on the actions of the characters, 2 endings are possible - good and bad. If the protagonist fairly defended the residents of the city and acted honestly with his colleagues, the first version of the final credits will be shown, otherwise - the second. The storyline in the game is non-trivial and interesting: many secondary characters are two-faced, and their true nature is revealed only at the very end.The game takes place in an open world. The player will be able to visit many buildings unrelated to the main plot. After clearing the locations of bandits, the player will be able to make purchases in some locations. You can move around the metropolis both on foot and by car. There are randomly generated events: robberies, car thefts, street fights. By solving these problems, the cop improves relations with the residents of the area where illegal actions were prevented.
