WWF SmackDown! 2: Know Your Role is a fighting game that offers a seasonal mode. The project has undergone significant changes compared to its predecessor, including the removal of the pre-season mode and the introduction of more complex storylines and matches for each show. Throughout the season mode, players unlock different wrestlers, wrestling moves, and arenas as they progress. Iconic wrestlers such as Shawn Michaels, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Billy Gunn, and Mick Foley, including his Cactus Jack persona, can be unlocked. In addition, unlockable characters such as Debra and Michael Cole are introduced, marking Cole's second inclusion as a character in the series. Introduced an expanded Create-A-Superstar feature that allows for character customization. This enhancement goes beyond preset templates to offer more in-depth character creation options. Gamers are able to assign managers such as Paul Bearer and Tori to different superstars, enhancing the managerial aspect. Additional features such as Create-A-Moveset, Create-A-Taunt, and Create-A-Stable, which can be played by up to four users, further enrich the gameplay.
