Yume Nikki Dream Diary is a remake of a famous adventure game. In terms of plot, the remake remains faithful to the original author - Yume Nikki. The plot revolves around a woman named Madotsuki, living in Japan. The heroine's life does not improve, and for some time she is called a hikikomori, or someone who never leaves her own apartment. The woman spends her days vegetating at home, watching TV and playing on an old console. However, every night after falling asleep, she goes on a journey through the world of dreams, most of which are terrible and unusual. This is an exploration adventure game, and everything is so minimalistic that the player will not see any dialogue. The gameplay is mostly about exploring surreal lands and solving random puzzles. Players will visit six dream worlds. In each of them, you need to find so-called Effects, magical objects that can change your own appearance. There are twenty-four such objects to collect in the game. The player can wake Madotsuki up at any time, after which she will return to the apartment. The heroine is immortal, but during the exploration she must avoid monsters, because those who catch her can move Madotsuki to places where there is no exit. Then there will be no choice but to wake up and then start exploring the dream world from the very beginning. This is not just a remake. Compared to the original, the creators expanded the game with elements that were originally planned to be included in the game, but eventually abandoned due to lack of time. A new mini-game has also been added to the console in the heroine's apartment.
