Here the user finds himself in the world of Riven, in which there is no time, but there are a lot of dangers, as well as mysterious individuals. The game consists of stages, each of which is completed alone and without hints. Among the calm sea there are 5 islands with rocks, sandy bays, forests with large trees, and glades with bizarre vegetation. Here lives an ancient people who have fallen behind modern development and worship ancient gods.Riven is actually hidden behind a beautiful shell, under which local life is gradually collapsing. Stone, machines and mechanisms are the basis of the world, which, in fact, lies in ruins, and industrial pastoral landscapes are proof of this. Working mechanisms have remained and function due to energy sources. The user learns the history from handwritten books and video inserts, which indicate what progress the local lands have achieved, and why everything has now fallen into ruins. Progress became available thanks to the smart inventor Artus. The hero asks to go through all the lands and find his wife Katerina. The gameplay of the old-school adventure is more aimed at exploring and observing the processes that occur on the islands. In the process, the gamer explores all the islands, where he will have to ride on a suspended cable car over the sea, move on a minecart through tunnels, ride in a bathyscaphe along an underwater railway. Puzzles in the game are presented as a search for levers, buttons that need to be activated to move on. Here it is important to notice and find any little things that will help complete the task, otherwise you will have to explore the locations again - sounds, symbols, colors, rock paintings are important. In the adventure, there is a separate type of tasks, where the user remembers the geolocation of a separate structure, which then must be reproduced on the coordinate grid.
